Osaka Expo 2025 Bahrain Pavilion

ALG is responsible for the lighting design of the Bahrain Pavilion at Expo 2025 Osaka.

The project, currently under construction, has been designed by Lina Ghotmeh — Architecture, based in Paris, France.
Located in the “Empowering Zone” near the seaside, this pavilion is primarily inspired by Bahrain’s traditional “dhow boats,” which were used for pearl diving.
The design draws inspiration from traditional Bahraini dhow boats, reinterpreting millennial boat building techniques that showcase Bahrain’s rich craftsmanship and manufacturing heritage, alongside Japanese wood artistry- in a celebration of the bilateral relations between both countries.

Lina Ghotmeh has shared the following remarks about this pavilion:
“the pavilion’s shape reminisces the vessels that once navigated the coasts of Eastern Arabia and East Africa, weaving enchanting tales of a seafaring Bahraini nation.”

This pavilion, constructed entirely with timber, is designed to allow all structural materials to be reused after the Expo concludes.
Its interior space harmonizes tradition and innovation, visitors are invited to a sensory-rich experience where tradition and innovation harmonize, creating a space that awakens the senses.

Introduction of ‘Lux,’ the Mascot Character for ALG 2025

Lux-kun is a mascot character created to symbolize the importance ALG places on wellbeing in its lighting design.
