Lighting design for Bahrain Pavilion -4 – Well-being lighting (3)

The theme of the Bahrain Pavilion is “Weaving a compelling narrative of Bahrain’s exceptional openness to the world, cultural diversity, and spirit of innovation,” and the exhibition will showcase the fusion of innovation and tradition.

The Kingdom of Bahrain is a nation of approximately 1.6 million people, consisting of around 40 islands in the Persian Gulf. Its total land area is comparable to that of Japan’s Lake Biwa.

Bahrain is characterized by a high standard of living on par with developed countries, a relatively moderate religious environment among Gulf nations, and a democratic constitutional monarchy. It also maintains friendly relations with Japan.

Following the decline of the natural pearl industry, Bahrain became the first Gulf country to begin oil production in 1932.
Since then, the oil industry has served as the backbone of its economy.

However, Bahrain’s government has long aimed to diversify the economy beyond oil dependency.
Key sectors such as international finance, trade, and tourism have been emphasized, while core industries like aluminum refining and processing, petrochemicals, and shipbuilding have achieved significant growth.

In recent years, Bahrain has also advanced a vision for sustainability. Bahrain International Airport, for instance, achieved carbon neutrality in 2022.

In the tourism sector, the country has promoted ecotourism that focuses on “responsible travel” — supporting both environmental conservation and the wellbeing of local communities. Several accommodations are actively engaged in sustainable initiatives.

The exhibition space, arranged around the pavilion’s open atrium, presents Bahrain’s history as a major trading port, its rich cultural heritage, strong economic foundation, diverse capabilities, commitment to sustainability, and national openness and innovation.

The lighting in the exhibition areas is designed using lighting tracks that support various display formats and content, allowing for flexible spotlight arrangements.

Using PWM control system (dimming system), the system allows for precise adjustment tailored to a variety of scenes.

The Bahrain Pavilion is a harmonious blend of tradition and innovation — a space designed to awaken the senses.
Visitors can expect a deeply immersive and sensory-rich experience.

We hope the lighting will contribute to that experience, inspiring each visitor to reflect on the question: “What does it mean to live a fulfilling and happy life?
